a letter to trina
Trina I Love You, Trina I miss you! Trina I never in my wildest dreams thought you would be taken away from us so soon. You were sincere about everything you did, everyone knew what you stood for. Trina you were my sister and my friend and I’ll never let your name die because you live forever in all our hearts. You showed us that LOVE really conquers all.

Trina Newman-Townsend was a beloved community activist and supporter. She was a pastor, a mother, foster mother, grandmother, sister and wife. She was loved by all and gave that love back a thousand times to all who she came in contact with.
Her passion was to help people which she did in any way she could.
From preaching the word of God to fostering children who needed her. From feeding the unhoused community to looking after her large, extended family.
She was larger than life.
On Chistmas Eve 2022, Trina had just finished delivering toys to a shelter for children in need and gotten her foster children into her car, when she was struck and killed by a speeding driver. The driver fled the scene, but was caught almost two weeks after the collision.
Trina’s death highlighted the public health crisis on the roads of Los Angeles, with 2022 being the deadliest on record. In her honor, Black Lives Matter Change For Us are fighting for safe, equitable solutions to traffic violence.
